Argentina is blessed to have numerous nomadic people from all over the world, though mostly from Europe. Therefore, a significant mark can be noticed towards the cosmopolitan culture of Argentina for the immigrant population. The influence of the European people is so intense that culturally the Argentines seem more European than Latin American.

The people of the Argentina are very much attached to their family. Handshake is the formal way of greeting the people. Though Roman Catholicism is the official state religion, everyone is allowed to practice their own religion. Tango dance is inseparable from the Argentine culture. Tango is more popular as a dance form to the rest of the world, but according to the Argentine the word denotes to the music and lyrics. The country is very rich from the cultural aspects. Carlos Morel is one of the pioneer painters in Argentina and his paintings have inspired a number of the painters of the country.

Soccer is one of the national obsessions of Argentines. The football lovers are crazy about Diego Maradona and he is given huge respect in most of the country in the world. They are very social and friendly and their celebration of Friend’s day on 20th July proves that. The TESOL trainee needs to follow some of the rules like Argentines do not like to be compared with Brazil or United States because they are considered as rival. They should not discuss anything about Great Britain or the Falkland Islands too.

Language – The way we can notice the influence of Europe in their culture, the influence can be felt in the field of language also. Spanish is the official language of Argentina, but it is not spoken in the same way the way it is spoken in Spain. Italian, German, English, French are some of the languages which are quite familiar in Argentina. And apart from these languages there are around 23 native languages like Mapuche, Guarani, Toba, Wichi and Quechua are also spoken in different parts of Argentina.
