Pre-Course Task
Below are some of the books, which would be required by the teachers.
The Practice of English Language Teaching, J Harmer, Longman (this is the set
book for the course)
Learning Teaching, J Scrivener, Heinemann
Teaching English Pronunciation, J Kenworthy, Longman
Arrival and Orientation
The students will be given a welcome pack upon arrival, which would include
information about the region.
Classroom Practice
The candidates have to complete minimum 6 hours of teaching practice, which
would be observed by the trainers.
Observation of Experienced Teachers
During the course, the activities and the teaching practice of the candidates
will be observed by experienced trainers or other teachers.
Unknown Foreign Language Course
As learning a foreign language, gives the teachers exposure about how to teach a
foreign language, we have incorporated it in the course. It helps teachers in
seeing things from the perspective of the teacher.
Assessment and Grading
There is no written examination at the end of the course. The students are
assessed continuously during the course.
Upon successful completion of the course, trainees are awarded a certificate
with one of the following grades:
A1 – Distinction
A2 – Excellent
B1 – Very good
B2 – Good
C – Pass
Course requirements
In order to earn your Certificate in TESOL candidates need to pass both the
theoretical and practical course components of the TEFL / TESOL course.
