Festivals in India

TEFL Trainees / ESL Teachers in India can enjoy Indian Festivals

There are numerous festivals, which the TEFL trainees can enjoy during their three weeks stay in India.

Holi
Each year in the month of March, the festival Holi is celebrated. This festival of colors is a traditional festival, which the TESOL trainees from outside can enjoy. Whole of India immerses itself in color and merriment. The vibrant colors of the festival are joined by sweets and greetings from each other. The cheerfulness of the Holi touches the hearts of the visitors too. People from all work of society some down on the road to celebrate this unique festival and this festival gives out the essence of India’s solidarity and the ability to embrace people from all culture and religion.

Diwali
Like Holi is the festival of colors, Diwali is the festival of lights. If you are cming for a TESOL course in India during end October or early November, you will able to see this awesome festival. Diwali is celebrated all over India with great pomp.

Durga Puja & Dusshera
Durga Puja is another famous festival in India but it is mainly celebrated in West Bengal. This festival takes place each year in the months of October or November. Dussehra is a part of this festival and is celebrated in the northern part of India mostly. It is a four days carnival in Kolkata during this festival.

Id
Id is celebrated two times in a year followed by one month of Ramzan. It is a national holiday and the frenzy among the people irrespective of religion is worth noticing.

Christmas
India is a secular country and unlike its other festivals Christmas is celebrated with great deal of grandeur. Christmas trees, Christmas carols and Christmas cake are all present in all parts of the country during this period. TEFL trainees coming from the western world will not miss Christmas at home by much while they are in India.
