Our TESOL program starts right from the time students take admission to our course. A pre-course material is given to the teachers once they enroll for the TEFL course. There is a reading material and an assignment attached to it, which the candidates have to complete before coming for the course. This pre course material gives them a brief idea about TESOL and its basic theories.
In the first week of the TEFL
course, the trainees are given inputs on group buildings, course introductions,
teaching listening, creating lessons plans, peer teaching, experience of foreign
language learning and language modeling. The three P’s of TESOL and classroom
management skills are the other two aspects of TEFL training.
In the second week, the teachers are given inputs on grammar, using teaching
aids like songs, chants theaters and preparing for teaching practice. Lesson
planning, which is another aspect of teachers training is taught to the
trainees.
On the third week, the teachers have to participate in two ESL teaching
observations and six teaching practice sessions in real classroom situation. The
practical exposure in Kerala helps the ESL teachers in their future endeavors.
