Indonesia has an amazing culture that is as versatile and vibrant as its picturesque landscapes and natural beauty; it is quite an influential culture and has made a subtle place in the neighboring countries as well influencing their culture from behind the scenes. The Indonesia culture is a mixed blend of the Indian and Chinese cultures which has influenced the country from ancient times. But with the entry of the feudal age came the Middle Eastern that influenced not only the cultural manifestations but also the lifestyle of the Indonesian people. Then the Europeans came to Indonesia who brought with them the dawn of a new era ultimately shaping the Indonesian culture as we see it today. The Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist legacy of Indonesia is evident in its art and craft and is also embedded in its daily life.

The official language of Indonesia is Indonesian or Bahasa Indonesia. It is a form of Riau dialect of Malay. The Indonesian language has Austronesia roots and has been used in Indonesia as a medium of communication for centuries. Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world and is the only country which is fast approaching to a eight where one language is spoken by the 100% population of the country. Aside from the national language, most Indonesians are also fluent in one regional language which is used by their community. Although English is one of the official languages of Indonesia it is spoken only buy the well off section of the society and is far from the reach of the underdeveloped section of the society.
