The Indonesian visa policies are subject to frequent
changes every now and then. Hence it is always advisable to consult with the
Indonesian consulate in your country and get correct informations about the visa
requirements for the present date. However there are some standard rules and
regulations that have to be followed by all foreigners visiting Indonesia.
One of the first and foremost rules that have to be followed is that the
passengers traveling to Indonesia musty carry a passport valid for at least six
months from the date of entry into Indonesia. If the passport does not fulfill
this requirement, passengers will be barred from entering the country. Israeli
passports are not recognized by the Indonesian government and the Israeli
nationals must get a travel affidavit issued by the Indonesian government.
The “Visa on Arrival” policy has been effective in Indonesia from 2005 and the
nationals of 36 countries are privy to this facility. These countries include
USA, UK, Australia, Spain, Italy, Hungary, India, and many others. Check in with
the list to know if you belong to that category. The VoA facility is only
available at certain airports and seaports of Indonesia. There are a number of
countries whose citizens cannot obtain a visa on arrival but have to do it in
the old fashioned way. Apply for an appropriate visa at the nearest Indonesian
consulate or embassy before visiting Indonesia. At present the Indonesian
government offers six distinct types visas to foreigners visiting Indonesia.
They are: visitors’ visa, temporary resident visa, permanent resident visa, free
visas on arrival, special dispensations for ships’ crews, visitor visas and
visas issued on arrival for a fee.
