Italians are very warm and friendly people, who are quite fond of their history, traditions and customs.   • Greetings are usually formal and mostly restricted to a handshake between strangers.
  • Air kissing and patting on the back is a common style of greeting friends.
  • It is not right to call strangers by their first name.
  • Do not gift chrysanthemums, red or yellow flowers or use a black or purple gift wrapper.
  • Formal dress is expected in dinner parties.
  • Give wine or chocolates as a present to the host
  • Do not sit on a chair, unless you are shown your seat.
  • Pick up cheese with the knife not with the finger.
