While you are visiting Spain it is important to remember that Spain has a large number of visa rules and regulations which vary from one country to another. Visas are not a requirement for the residents of the countries who are members of the European Union. Te Spanish government also makes this exception for Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. Tourists visiting Spain are not required to register with the local police authorities any longer if they are planning to stay for more than 90 days. Passports of these countries are valid for stay in Spain until its last date of validity. The citizens of a large number of countries like Brazil, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, USA, Mexico, etc are not required to acquire a visa if they plan to stay for a period of less than ninety days.

The Spanish government asks for quite a lot of documents before one can enter the country. A fully completed visa form, valid national passports, current bank statements are some of the prerequisites for visiting Spain. Along with these there are a lot of other documents that have to be produced to the authorities before one can enter the country of Spain. The maximum time required for processing a short stay visa application is around 15 days. In specific cases this period can be extended to 30 days and in certain cases up to 60 days time period. No visas are granted on spot and hence it is advisable to apply for visas well in advance. The visa fee is of €60 and is payable to the Spanish consulate.
