A three week Onsite TESOL Program Curriculum Chiang Mai

1. Language Learning
For an ESL teacher, impeccable knowledge of English is the main criterion. The session includes Grammar and Phonology. Grammar will include perception of the basics of English Grammar and how to teach Grammar. Phonology will tackle stress, rhythm, intonation and the speech organs.

2. Foreign Language Experience
This session ensures that the trainee recognizes what promotes and holds back the language learning process and how it feels to be in a language learners shoes.

3. Teaching the four basic skills of language learning, speaking, writing, listening and reading.

4. Teaching Techniques
These sessions will include:

•  Theatre in the Classroom
•  Tuning In (Warmers)
•  Teaching Listening
•  Context and Language Modeling
•  Communicative ways
•  Using Aids (IM)
•  Teaching Reading
•  Teaching Young Learners
•  Teaching Writing
•  Classroom Management
•  Looking at Errors
•  Music in the classroom
•  Use of games and projects

5. Correcting errors is the basic duty of the teachers and during the TEFL course, the future ESL teachers are taught the intricacies of correcting mistakes.

6. Teaching Observation
Trainees will be expected to watch and analyze 2 Teaching Sessions and to write reports on them. These will also help them to study and understand a model lesson previous to their own teaching practice.

7. Teaching Practice
Teacher trainees will have 6 teaching Practice classes which will be watched and reviewed by trainers and the trainees will be given feedback on them. They will also be doing self evaluation and peer evaluation these Teaching Practice classes will help them to deliberate on their own teaching and that of others.
