During the TESOL course in Turkey, the students will experience Middle Eastern culture with a European twist. Turkey has a very rich culture and ethnicity and fascinating traditions. Islam is the state religion of Turkey but the culture of this country is extremely secular. Turkish arts, folklore and cuisine are proofs of the grand culture of this country. Turkish coffee, team and the mezes are an integral part of their every day life.

Some tips on Turkish etiquettes for students of TESOL course in Turkey:

It is customary to shake hands on meeting someone.

Friends and relatives usually kiss on the cheeks and elders are respected by kissing the right hand.

Greet the elderly first in a gathering

Few Islamic greeting, which the TESOL trainees can remember are ‘Asalamu alaykum' (peace be upon you), ‘Gunaydin (good morning) and ‘Nasilsiniz’ (How are you?).

Turkey is a Muslim country so giving alcohol as gifts are not welcome sometimes.

Pastries or decorative items are the most common gifts given when invited to a house.

Coffee is the national drink of Turkey, and it is consumed in a completely different way.

Turkish language:

The official language of Turkey is Turkish, and it is spoken by 90 % of the population. Arabic is also spoken by many Turks and many speak both the languages. The trainees get a chance to learn Turkish and Arabic during the TESOL course in Turkey.
